Xiaomi was able to overtake Huawei and take first place in the wearable electronics market in the second quarter of 2021. This is stated in the report of the analytical agency Canalys.

Compared to the second quarter of 2020, Xiaomi’s share decreased from 20.1% to 19.6%, despite an increase in shipments from 7.8 million to 8.0 million units (+2.6%). However, the Beijing-based company managed to rise to the top spot thanks to the fall of Huawei. The Shenzhen-based manufacturer dropped to third place, taking 9.2% of the market against 21% in the base period. In the second quarter of this year, Huawei shipped 3.7 million wearables (-53.9%).

California giant Apple has entered into an agreement between Xiaomi and Huawei. Its market share increased from 15.8% to 19.3%, and its shipments increased from 6.1 million to 7.9 million units (+29.4%). The top five also included Fitbit (3 million, 7.3%) and Samsung (2.5 million, 6.1%). The latter more than doubled its supplies (+114.4%).

The share of all other manufacturers in total accounted for 38.6% of gadgets (15.8%). Deliveries compared to the same period last year increased by 20.7%, and the share — by 38.6%. The market itself increased by 5.6% and reached 40.9 million devices.

Xiaomi was able to lead the market thanks to the great popularity of Mi Band sports bracelets. But in the smartwatch segment, it is only in fifth place with a 5.7% share, having shipped 1.5 million devices. The undisputed leader is Apple with a share of 31.1%. The top 5 also includes Huawei (2.3 million, 9%), Garmin (1.9 million, 7.6%) and Samsung (1.8 million, 7%).
