Xiaomi has started raising the price of some popular Redmi and POCO smartphones. And even the models announced last year have risen in price.
What happened?
It is too early for Europeans to worry, because the price increase is observed only in the Indian market. There, Xiaomi increased the cost of eight POCO and Redmi smartphones at once. At the same time, some of them were presented more than a year ago.
The hit of sales of Redmi Note 10 on Snapdragon 678 grew by $20 at once. The 4GB RAM version now costs $185 instead of $165, while the 6GB RAM version costs $210 instead of $190.
The price of Redmi Note 10T (aka Redmi Note 10 5G) with 700 size processor has increased by $15. The price increase affected the 4/64 GB and 6/128 GB configurations. The new cost is $205 instead of $190 and $235 instead of $210, respectively.
But Redmi Note 10 Pro, which is known to us as Redmi Note 10S, on the Helio G95 chip has risen in price by only $ 7 and only in the 6/128 GB modification. The new price was $225.
Also, the Indian representative office of the company increased the cost of the Redmi 9i, Redmi 9 Power, Redmi 9 and Redmi 9 Prime models by the same $7. As for the POCO brand, so far only the POCO M3 smartphone has risen in price by $7.
What is the reason?
This is not the first time that Xiaomi has increased the cost of smartphones in India. Previously, the reason was an increase in taxes. Now the jump in prices is associated with an increase in the price of components against the backdrop of a shortage. But perhaps the company just wants to increase profits. Note that TSMC’s new tariffs, which may also lead to higher prices, will come into effect in the winter.
