Smartphones with under-screen front cameras are no longer new: last year ZTE introduced such a model, this year the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be the first foldable smartphone with an under-screen camera, and Xiaomi, according to the latest data, is preparing three such models.

Xiaomi has reportedly completed the third-generation under-screen camera technology and considers it ideal for mass production. Moreover, the technology will be introduced massively: the company is already preparing three smartphones using it. They will be released sequentially once a quarter: the first in the third quarter of this year (that is, the novelty will be presented between July and September), the second in the fourth quarter of this year, and the third in the first quarter of 2022.

The technology isn’t cheap, so entry-level and mid-range models don’t have such cameras (yet). At the same time, the first Xiaomi smartphone with a sub-screen camera could be Mi Mix 4 (there have been rumors about this for a long time, as well as about the release of a smartphone in the third quarter), the second one is Mi Mix 2 (expected just by the end of the year), and the third one is Mi 12.
