William Lu, Senior Vice President of Xiaomi Group, President of Xiaomi China, spoke about the company’s achievements in Europe.
In the first quarter of this year, Xiaomi came in second place in the European smartphone market, according to the latest research data from the analytical company Canalys.
Xiaomi currently holds 23% of the European smartphone market, having improved its last year result by an impressive 85%. The first place with a market share of 35% is occupied by Samsung, which was able to increase shipments by 21%.
The third place was taken by the American company Apple, which previously held the second position. Now Apple has managed to take 19% of the market, having improved its last year result by 22%. Separately, it is worth noting the breakthrough of Oppo, which increased sales by 153% over the year, taking 4% of the market and fourth place. Huawei slowed down sales by 81%, taking only the fifth place.
In the Spanish smartphone market, Xiaomi has ranked first for five consecutive quarters. At the end of the first quarter, the company occupied 35% of the local market, while Samsung and Apple occupied 27% and 11% of the market, respectively.
In Eastern Europe, Xiaomi ranks third.
