We recently wrote that Samsung decided to withdraw from the megapixel race. A new leak suggests that Xiaomi, on the contrary, continues to strive for even more megapixels.

First with 108 MP, first with 200 MP

Recall that Xiaomi was the first company to introduce a smartphone with a 108-megapixel camera. By the way, the ISOCELLL sensor from Samsung was used then. Now Samsung is preparing a 200-megapixel sensor, and an insider digital chat station reports that Xiaomi will again be the first to take it into circulation.

However, the insider does not announce any timeline. This is understandable: Samsung has not yet introduced a new sensor, and information about its development has not even been officially confirmed.

However, according to the leaks, the sensor will get 0.64 micron pixels, which is the smallest size to date. You can also expect to be able to merge multiple pixels into one and have a good zoom. Technically, this sensor will have enough resolution for 16K video, but unfortunately there is no processor that can handle this yet. Current chips can’t even do 8K 60fps.
