Xiaomi’s first foldable smartphone, the Mi MIX Fold, has been launched in China. It has become the most affordable device in this class, it is sold at home for 9999 yuan, or about 120 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate.

By comparison, its closest competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, costs about one and a half times as much and runs on last year’s hardware. Soon Samsung should introduce a new generation.

Mi MIX Fold has a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 design. Inside, it hides an 8-inch AMOLED display that folds in half — it has a 4:3 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2480 × 1860 pixels. And outside there is a small additional screen.

On the big screen, you can play games, watch videos on the Internet, use the browser, work with documents and perform many other tasks. An external secondary screen is needed for calls, messages and other simple actions so as not to expand the device. The company guarantees that the smartphone will withstand a million openings and closings.

The outer screen is AMOLED, 6.52 inches, 2520×820 pixels, and a 90Hz refresh rate.

Especially for Mi MIX Fold, the company has developed a desktop mode system, where the interface becomes more similar to operating systems for laptops and computers. In this mode, you can work with multiple windows at the same time and customize your desktop more flexibly.

Inside the smartphone is a 5020mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging — both wired and wireless. Mi MIX Fold is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 888 processor.
