Chinese Xiaomi held another Mi Fan Open Day event, during which the launch date for the stable version of the MIUI 12.5 shell, designed for the company’s Android devices, was announced. During the event, it was announced that the official launch of the updated user interface will take place on April 30, 2021.
According to reports, the first devices to receive MIUI 12.5 will be Xiaomi Mi 11, Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10 Ultra and Mi 9 SE smartphones. The wider distribution of the shell, in which it will be available to users of more Xiaomi and Redmi devices, will begin at the end of May. It is worth noting that users of Xiaomi Mi 11, Mi 10 Ultra and Mi 9 SE smartphones received a stable beta version of MIUI 12.5 this month as part of the testing program.
According to reports, MIUI 12.5 is an iteration of the main version of the shell. The developers have updated the animation system, sound effects, added intelligent protection of the clipboard contents, a sandbox mechanism for files, increased the level of protection of user data when working on the Internet, etc. As for the overall performance of the shell, the use of system memory has decreased by an average of 35%, and power consumption — by 25%.
Thus, in the near future, the owners of the mentioned Xiaomi smartphone models will be able to appreciate the updated user interface. Obviously, the update will primarily roll out to the domestic market, where the vendor’s devices are using firmware other than the global version.
