The LineageOS team, one of the most popular unofficial ROMs for Android smartphones, has announced the release of Lineage 18.1 based on the Android 11 operating system.
According to the developers, the version is called Lineage 18.1, and not Lineage 18.0, as many expected, since since the release of Android 11 in September, Google has continued to make changes and additions, including significant security updates, which was reflected in the latest release of Lineage.
In LineageOS 18.1, we’ve carried over all the major innovations of Android 11, including updated bubble alerts, new medical content controls, privacy and security improvements, a new emoji pack, and more. In addition, there are also LineageOS-specific innovations such as improvements to the voice recorder and music app, a new calendar, SeedValut open source backup solution, and a dark theme for all LineageOS apps.
In addition, the Android security patch has improved from the April 2020 version to the March 2021 version. Unlike LineageOS 17.1 based on Android 10, which was not supported by many devices, the list of supported smartphones in LineageOS 18.1 is impressive — it includes about 60 models from various manufacturers, from Google to OnePlus, Nokia, Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi and Poco .
