The Chinese company Xiaomi, which is one of the largest manufacturers of smartphones and consumer electronics, held a presentation at which many interesting new products were presented. At the same time, the vendor announced its intention to enter the electric vehicle market, and also showed several images of the camper (mobile home) concept.
According to reports, Xiaomi plans to make an initial investment of 10 billion yuan (about $1.5 billion) in the development and production of electric vehicles. In the next ten years, the amount of funds invested in this area may increase to $10 billion. Although Xiaomi initially intends to start shipping its own electric vehicles to the Chinese market, it is possible that they will appear in other countries over time.
One would think that the mobile home shown would be Xiaomi’s first electric car, but still today is not April 1 yet. In fact, the electrified camper shown was assembled for an unnamed client, and Xiaomi was primarily responsible for equipping it with branded electronics. In general, almost nothing is known about this car. During the presentation, only the appearance of the car and its interior were shown, no technical specifications were announced. It is quite logical that inside the mobile home there was a place for various Xiaomi electronic devices.
At the moment, it is not known whether the Chinese company plans to mass-produce electric campers or whether this project will remain in a single copy. There has also been no word on when Xiaomi’s first mass-produced electric car could go on sale as the company is currently in the development phase.
