Today it became known that the flexible OLED display for the new smartphone of the Xiaomi Mi Mix line is supplied by China Star Optoelectronics, a subsidiary of the well-known manufacturer TCL. The source adds that the company produces this screen exclusively for the Xiaomi foldable phone. Previously, top-end OLED screens were supplied by Samsung, but in recent years the situation has changed significantly, and Chinese manufacturers have strengthened their positions.
Over the past two years, various models of foldable smartphones have appeared on the smartphone market. The first such phone, the Royole Flexpai, hit the market back in 2018. However, the segment has become more popular with the release of the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X, which have already received successors.
Xiaomi showed a prototype of its smartphone with a flexible screen two years ago, it could be folded in two places. However, the commercial device, judging by the leaks and photos, looks like the Samsung Galaxy Fold. The screen of the device will fold in the middle and hide inside the body when folded.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix foldable phone is also equipped with the world’s first liquid lens, which will expand the device’s camera capabilities. As we already reported, liquid lenses for the new Xiaomi Mi Mix were created by the Chinese company Ofilm, a former partner of Apple.
Today there will be a presentation of Xiaomi Mi Mix and many other new products.
