Appearance

iRobot Braava 380t

The robot vacuum cleaner has a non-standard square shape with softly rounded edges measuring 21.6 x 21.6 x 7.6 cm. It weighs 1.8 kg. The case is made of high-quality black plastic with a glossy finish. The control buttons are located in the upper part, and in the center there is an indented diamond-shaped surface made of tinted glass, representing a receiver for cube signals. The side surface in front is equipped with a spring-loaded bumper, in which infrared motion sensors are mounted that detect obstacles and change in height. At the back is a handle and contacts for installation on the base. On the bottom are:

  • two side wheels on a movable axle, which facilitates turning and moving;
  • battery cover;
  • the place where the external power adapter is switched on;
  • panel with a microfiber cloth.

Specifications

iRobot Braava 380t

The technical parameters of the robot vacuum cleaner are as follows:

  • dry cleaning area: 300 sq.m, wet cleaning 100 sq.m;
  • water tank volume: 150 ml;
  • control: buttons on the case;
  • operating modes: 4;
  • power: 30W;
  • noise: up to 46 dB.

The device is equipped with a rechargeable Ni-MH battery with a capacity of 2000 mAh. On a single charge, it works up to 240 minutes (up to 150 minutes with wet cleaning). Charging takes 120 minutes with the base and 240 minutes with the external adapter.

Functionality

iRobot Braava 380t

The iRobot Braava 380T vacuum cleaner differs from other devices in the absence of a suction function. The principle of its operation is based on collecting small dry debris, dust and hair on a special white cloth attached to the bottom while wiping the floor.

Due to its peculiar shape and small dimensions, the device is able to reach dirt under low furniture, next to skirting boards, as well as in corners. The wet wiping process is automated. To carry it out, a panel is attached to the bottom, in which there is a container with water. A blue napkin is fixed on it, where moisture enters through a specially adapted hole in the middle.

The robot moves when collecting dry garbage with a snake, and in floor polisher mode — with a Christmas tree. There is a quick cleaning function, when iRobot cleans only the main part of the room, without capturing the area near furniture and walls. To select the cleaning method, you must use the corresponding button on the case.

The robot is equipped with a built-in navigation system that enables it to clean a small area. For advanced cleaning, the NorthStar GPS Cube, designed specifically for this model, is used. It is installed on the floor in the room towards its center and sends signals to the robot. Thanks to him and a set of sensors for obstacles and height differences, the vacuum cleaner evaluates the room and builds a cleaning map for each case, taking into account the location of furniture and other obstacles. At the end of cleaning, the robot returns to the starting point and turns off, and the cube turns off along with it. For consistent cleaning of a large area, additional cubes should be purchased.

Advantages and disadvantages

iRobot Braava 380t

Advantages:

  • stylish design and unusual shape;
  • extended equipment;
  • automated wet cleaning;
  • modern navigation system;
  • good orientation in space;
  • long work on one charge;
  • quiet;
  • quality assembly.

Flaws:

  • preliminary preparation of the premises is required (removal of large debris and objects from the floor);
  • difficulty of movement in narrow places due to the square shape;
  • not quite high-quality cleaning (there are only rags, no brushes);
  • Includes only one cube.

The price of iRobot Braava 380T is 18,000 rubles. In fact, the vacuum cleaner performs mainly the function of a floor polisher in a dry or wet way. Therefore, buyers should pay attention to the lack of suction capacity. To perform daily cleaning of the floor or rubbing parquet, the robot will be the best option, thanks to a well-thought-out navigation system powered by cubes.
