Earlier today, Xiaomi launched its flagship smartphone Mi 11 to the international market. Now the company has officially unveiled the global version of the latest proprietary firmware MIUI 12.5. In the latest software, Xiaomi has focused on performance and energy efficiency, as well as updated the interface design.
Based on Android 11, the company claims that MIUI 12.5 is much more streamlined than previous versions of the platform. It is reported that the consumption of RAM compared to MIUI 12 has decreased by 20 percent. In addition, the firmware is 22% less resource intensive and 15% more energy efficient than its predecessor. However, during the presentation of the new skin, the company did not mention features such as MIUI +, an updated sandbox mechanism, improved live wallpapers, as well as realistic system sounds and haptic feedback that are available in the Chinese version of the firmware. However, the emphasis was on a noticeable increase in performance and smoothness of the interface. MIUI 12.5 will process system control gestures in a separate thread, which will greatly improve responsiveness. In addition, the new firmware will allow users to uninstall more pre-installed apps.
Xiaomi has said it will start updating branded smartphones to the new software version from the second quarter of this year. The update will roll out in waves. The company has already published a list of smartphones that will be included in the first two waves:
