An interesting statement was made today by the head of the Redmi brand on the Weibo social network. Contrary to expectations, his message is only partially related to the upcoming debut of the Redmi K40.

So, Le Weibing suddenly shared his observation that companies that previously used 3D-ToF modules in their smartphones began to abandon them. At the same time, the number of models with 100-megapixel sensors, according to the top manager, will increase this year. It is clear that an industry is an industry, but Xiaomi is its leader, and therefore everything that has been said about the market as a whole applies to it.

Indeed, there is no doubt about the presence of a 108-megapixel sensor in the Mi 11 Pro and Redmi K40 (or K40 Pro) smartphones. According to rumors, it will also be in Redmi Note 10. Surely such sensors will also appear in other Xiaomi models debuting under other brands — Poco and Black Shark. In general, it’s hard to say how many of the company’s smartphones will get 100-megapixel cameras this year, but there will definitely be more than last year.
