In particular, a new notification was found in the application that warns the user that an unofficial battery is installed in the smartphone, which can lead to swelling, overheating and even fire. In this case, the user is advised to contact the official Xiaomi service center, and the maximum charging speed will be reduced to protect the device.

It is still unclear how MIUI checks the originality of the battery. iPhone uses microcontrollers that can only be configured by authorized service centers. Perhaps Xiaomi is using something similar, but there is no confirmation yet.

The list of affected devices is still small: Xiaomi Mi 9, Xiaomi Mi 10 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro. In addition, the warning will only appear on smartphones in the China region. But in the future, the possibility of this function appearing on devices for other markets is not excluded.
