Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun published information on his page on the Weibo social network that exactly 10 years ago, on August 16, 2011, the company’s first smartphone was introduced under the name Xiaomi Mi 1. He also published a photo in which representatives of the Xiaomi Mi line are depicted.

The smartphone was offered at a price of 1999 yuan (about $ 300) only through the Internet. It was released on 13 September and was immediately ordered by over 300,000 people. The company had to work actively for about three months. It wasn’t until December 17th that they were able to send out all the start orders.

The number of users who patiently waited for us for several months and paid the full amount for a smartphone amounted to 184,600 people. Last week, the company announced that these users will receive a 1,999 yuan gift as a thank you.

Most users thank Xiaomi and CEO Lei Jun personally. The source writes: «They didn’t expect Xiaomi to give them 1999 yuan red envelopes 10 years after buying the original smartphone.»

The original Xiaomi Mi 1 smartphone in a plastic case was built on the basis of the Snapdragon S3 mobile platform with two ARM Cortex-A8 cores, a 4-inch display, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of flash memory and a 1930 mAh battery.
